The name Rockpine Law refers to the pine forests that grow out of the stony ground in Northern Minnesota where founder Scotty Ducharme grew up. When the glaciers pushed all the topsoil down south, pine trees sprung up to dig deep into the cracks in the bedrock and scratch out a living from the unforgiving stone. No pine tree survives alone for long. They rely on the trees next to them to blunt the wind, cover their roots with fallen needles, and shelter their vulnerable young from ice and snow.

Despite living in one of the harshest climates on earth, with wildfires, blizzards, savage winds, and pestilence these forests thrive. They thrive not just for themselves, but for their young, and for all the creatures that live amongst their branches.

So Rockpine was chosen as a metaphor for the family. Challenges will come. There will be hardship and loss. But no one stands alone. If we hold together, and work together, we will thrive together.
